“Jesus Freaks”

In today’s world being a follower of Christ is not by any means the norm or some huge phenomenon. It can be one of the hardest most difficult ways to live with society telling us to be the complete and utter opposite. Mark 8:36, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, but give up their soul.” When society says, you are not loved because you do not measure up to these implied standards, God says, you are loved because YOU chose me and NOT the world. When society says, you will have no fun following God because He is a God of rules and regulations that MANY people do not want to be restricted by, God says, following me has a life FULL of abundance, grace, hope, everlasting love, and being able to live life to the very fullest. When society says…God gives limits, God says may your life and faith be LIMITLESS. May you have life and life to the fullest.  How can a human being not want what God has to offer?  I personally have been called a so-called “Jesus Freak” as society likes to define it as. To me, I wear that title proudly. I am a freak for Jesus because how can one not be. I look at my life and all the things He has blessed me with and I think, WOW being a “Jesus Freak” is the best title ever. To be called that means that people see you lovin and going crazy for Jesus. That’s how we should live our lives daily. Titles do not by any means define a person, but if that was what I was labeled as, man would I want to wear a sign on my neck with that on it so every single person I encountered could see it. We must live boldly for Christ and not be ashamed to be like Him everyday. We must only boast in Christ because WOW who wouldn’t want to boast in Christ!! He can do SO many mighty and amazing things and He wants to reveal to us the miraculous life we can live with ONLY Him. God tells us the secret to finding life and the best life possible in Proverbs 21:21 which says, “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor.” Man I sure would want a life like that. We must pursue the righteousness that only can be sought out when we run to Him. We must lose our sinful life in order to find true life. Matthew 16:25, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life will find it.” As avid followers of the King, we must shed this image that being a “Jesus freak” is a weird thing and take up that label as one that is prized and special and proudly looked upon as the best label you can have. The world will try to label you, but the only one that matters is the way God looks at you. Make an effort to show Him everyday and for people to look at you and say, he/she is a “Jesus freak” and that is the best part about him/her.
